Hi Tangxiaohai, I pretty much agree with your opinion, but I think formative assessment and functions of formative are both important, they are actually helping each other. If students never come to class and just learning themselves, they cannot get a good study experience, because students will have no guide during the study, like if they made mistake, they probably will not even realize it. Summative assessment is also important because students will have less pressure or confusion about their study process.

I am a student in major of economy too. Thank you for sharing, I have same feeling about those basic level classes. I studied ECON 245 with professor Betty, she is a awsome professor. She gives us a website to do homework, on that website, we can prectice the same version of questions in multiple times, till we totally master the knowledge. And if we answered wrong, there will be expaination. I do think it is very efficient study mode. We can also check out the our mistake-answered question, even before the fianl exam, it is good to know what kind of mistakes we made before.
